A Night of Culture
The first Bollywood Gala organized entirely by local performers — a fundraiser for the Butterfly Playground, held the same year Lamhe closed out the run of visiting professional artists from India.
Presented with the Washington Township Rec Center at RecWest Auditorium on Saturday, 1 May 2010, at 7pm sharp. Local performers from Dayton and neighboring cities took the stage, performing classic Bollywood favorites alongside contemporary hits — from A.R. Rahman, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Shreya Ghoshal and Udit Narayan to Lady Gaga, Jay Sean, Alicia Keys, One Republic, Train and The Script — reflecting the world-music mix printed on the evening’s own flyer, below.

The evening
Neighbors on stage, for the first time
A grand evening of Bollywood music as a fundraiser for the Butterfly Playground. Renowned artists from Dayton and neighboring cities performed classic Bollywood songs alongside the latest hits, on a stage that — for the first time — belonged entirely to the community rather than to touring professionals.
It was one of two Foundation concerts held in 2010 — two months later, Lamhe closed out the run of visiting professional artists from India. Every Bollywood Gala since has continued in this evening’s spirit: neighbors performing for neighbors.
